So Far I havent covered the handsets market. As I mentioned earlier, Indians by nature are technophobes. Would mating the PDA’s and the telephone really make sense?
Most of the Indians base their handset buying decision on one simple fact; the handset ring tones. There is no logical explaination for the same. People may use the mobile features or not, the tones do come in for a lot of scrutiny from the peers. If the tones are good, the mobile handset is good.
If I need a PDA to govern my life, clearly, I am disorganised. Still, I would welcome any accounts where the telephones have radically altered the life of the user, beyond giving hip status to a user. I saw a Nokia handset in the hands of a lady colleague. it would be inappropriate to call her a bitch; the fact is that she didnt have any iota of knowledge about using the same. Except of course for recieving the calls on her mobile.
Mobiles are promoted heavily as life style products; for the rich and priveleged few. Perhaps for the army of morons- the professional managers that head those “IT industries”; it is difficult to escape the stereotypes. Or perhaps the poor and harried cyber coolies- the call centre execs. I still have to see any potential application for the same.
One that I can think of is using a mobile phone synced with a laptop. In my own profession, I have often wondered whether I could shoot the interesting case studies and store it online. I have been toying over the past few months over starting a medical blog; I would need the toys to make it useful. Till then, no one has to suffer!
