Personal Reflections

Its been sometime I updated my blog and I owe personal apologies to anyone who may be frequenting here. I have been “reviewing the telecom scene in ” for almost 8 months now. What started off a a hobby became a full time obession.

Howsoever I tried to chronicle the ups and downs of these companies, it became increasingly clear that most of the industry runs on unaccountabilty. There is no way one can hold them upto a ransom; till the time you pursue them with dedication. The whole industry remains in a mess, thanks to the lopsided policies that usually cloud the official line of government.

It would be naive to assume that there is no lobbying in the corridors of power. Of course, one wouldn’t know but has anyone wondered, that despite the all round taxes, Corporate India was gushing over the budget? Over the period of time, it’s hard to ignore these neo liberals in the garb of “improving the infrastructure in India”. There has been no concerted campaign to kick these bastards out of power; the ones that choose to subvert India.

It isn’t only in the telecom that one could the mess. Infrastructure in terms of airports, electricity boards, roads and highways and what not. Every decision of the people in power is taken to benefit a few chosen few. Would the powers be ever queue up in line to pay the bills? Perhaps ever think about the enduring power cuts? They remain happy in their own cocoons. Would Dayanidhi Maran ever argue with a hair brained idiot to rectify his bills; most of the times they are faulty.

The purpose of this blog is not to discredit India in any manner; the sole aim was to make sure that we start of an honest discussion to the same effect.

During the same time as I was contributing to this Techwhack, I got an offer to write for another website as “ Reporter” from India. However, the dream went sour and I too gave up any claims for whatever I wrote back. The world is indeed bitchy, even though one may have the best of intents. Oh well, since I am no longer part of any other website, I continue to blog here.

Last month saw me getting a job to support myself and my . However, the academic pressures have made sure that this blog would at best be updated only at irregular intervals. Frankly speaking, there is a degree of fatigue that has set in while holding up the mirror up against the establishment. A lesson indeed learnt the hard way- there is no way one can change the system.

Over the past few months, the initial excitation of the Broadband age was dampened by the extremely slow roll outs in cities other than the major metros. True, some areas have got upgraded exchanges, yet the spread remains comatose. Oh, not to forget that the “intelligent morons” have come up with the definition of broadband as 256 kbps. Despite the ’s ruling, is still offering 128 kbps packages. ’s are another sob story. They are perennial bunch of loosers; no word on the quality of their services.

Look around and India is determined to loose out on the infobahn rush. We must ensure that it doesnt do so.
