This post is self explainatory What all I had been crowing about all these months. The “target” for “millions of subscribers” has been scaled down to thousands…The exact number is always a dispute.
Which one would you rely? An independent evaluator or the figures dished out by the companies itself? It beats all logic to me frankly.
The dingbat moron who reported this story has this to write and I quote:
Indian tariffs are also among the lowest broadband tariffs in the world. The charge per MB of download has come down to Re 1 compared with Rs 4 a year ago.
How true. This is what the media is. Idiots who write in and get published without any research or idea as to what the “low price” actually means.
Further:
BSNL and MTNL executives said progress on providing content-rich services had been slow and that it was the primary reason for the poor growth
.
One doesnt need to Content services alone dude. One needs to give out service obligations and commitment to keep the phone always working….
Good news in a depressing article:
Operators such as Bharti and Reliance Infocomm have also begun test runs of IPTV on broadband speeds of 10 mbps. This is expected to hit the market in six to nine months’ time.
I just feel like using the “four letter word” here.
P.S. There was a equally assinine story in India Today by some Mallini Goyal. It too breaks ground in reporting- yeah, the same kind that I have linked to here. It’s easy to sing paens about Broadband- whatever narrow band we have here.
Sadly, India Today doesn’t allow free access. Perhaps they ae afraid that content would be leaked out or copied. Why this paranoia?

lol!! I guess u express all of our opinion in this log. What the companies dont get is there is a difference between broadband and hi speed (if we call it hi speed). Sify quotes 128 and 256 as broadband... thats hilarious... Will there be a time in the near future we would get a 3mbps speed?... that remains the question. Oh and Re 1 per MB is so fuckin cheap.... You download a 3 CD GNU/Linux distro and u're charged Rs 1,500 approx. Oh my how cheap!
