An open letter to Mr Anil which I wrote in recently. I think it’s appropriate to share here.

Dear Sir,

I must congratulate you for the recent listing on the bourses. I got your email address from the website.

Sir, I write in to say that lack of Access from is really hampering the choice available to consumers. It has been in the air for too long that was to debut it’s services long time back but due to unforseen circumstances, it has been pushed back on the agenda.

I have had the roads dug up near my place with the laying of the ducts. Enquiries from local Reliance office revealed that initial access would be limited to voice calls and Broadband would be delayed by another 3 months. This is the best case scenario, though.

Sir, I am a practising doctor. During the course of my practise, I often need to have access to journals, streaming radios and videos. I am presently stuck up with , whose insipid plan offerings restricted to 1 GB overall has lead to much heart burn. To add insult to injury, the main head office is incommunicative about any new plan offerings.

I wrote back to division asking about the probable date of access. True to their word, they replied in 1 working day but are non commital about the same. They advice me to wait for announcements to the same effect.

Sir, I would pick up Reliance Broadband for two reasons. First, I have been a long time user of Reliance services and the quality of access as compared to , left me in no doubt about the same. I am sure, you must have had something similar in mind for . Secondly, is the media reports for the content distribtion plans and perhaps a nation wide roll out would spoil consumers for a choice.

Sir, the future battles would be won on content and content delivery. You own the upstream via Flag and the downstream via last mile access which would leave no stone unturned for your market domination.

However, in my personal opinion and in the forums elsewhere, we all have a reason to hope to Reliance Broadband would do the same thing to access as in the mobile telephony arena which was virtually a stranglehold of few private players prior to your entry in business. I hope this mail be taken in favourable light and your efforts are directed at rejuvenating the Broadband access. Frankly, otherwise, it would take a miracle to make the people switch, given the fact that is getting aggressive in Wireline access and BSNL virtually owns the last mile access owing to Government monopoly. I have a reason to believe that wireline access would sell on the rider of like Broadband access and content delivery. If BSNL gives me unlimited access at affordable tariffs, it would be difficult to convince my parents to down money to shift over to Reliance.

Finally, customers want choice and superior service. Given the track record of Reliance, I am sure Reliance is perfectly poised for the same.

I am useing Reliance Broadband service, since 2 months I am facing hell of a problem with Internet, and for which I made several complaints, on and off connection got cut off, and for which I am getting the phone call to check up whether my net is working or not, and then they said problem will be resolved in 24 hours, in between twice some came and they said net is working, but main problem is there that on and off line got cut off, some time hours and hours takes to connect the server. no one is bother to resolve the problem, and funny thing is there that they inform their department that problem is resolved, (without doing any thing - whithout resolving the problem) even contacting technitian he promised that he will be comming but no one comes to resolve the problem. This is the beuty of Reliance Broad Band service.

I Nikhil Srivastava having a Reliance CDMA connection, number-9325248661 faced pathetic state of condition on having a Reliance mobile connection. I have recharged my phone with a top up of Rs 299 on 12/09/10 in which it is being assured that i can call all local Reliance number free of cost and any other mobile network Connection free for half an hour daily. The Rs 299 services gets terminated on 8/09/10 without prior information ( i get to know when my local calls gets charged). Then on calling Customer Care, as a big surprise got to know that call to customer care are also charged ( That is a wow factor) and if someone have to register a complaint then another no. 198 is to be called, on calling 198 three time , each time my call get disconnected midway (As i press some numbers and the voice response system told to be on the line and then call get disconnected). Finally i decided to spent some more amount on calling *333 the person whom i get connected having the name Laxman is an intresting fellow, on requesting him to lodge a complaint, he told me i have to tell him the transaction number of Rs 299 voucher which i recharged on 12/09/10. After telling him that it is very tough job for any customer to have the transaction ID of a recharge which has been done 23 days ago, he simply refused to lodge the complaint, on requesting him again about lodging the complaint he simply refused me and talk to me in such an arrogant tone like i am a servant of his Family .One more important point to be brought into your consideration is that i live in Pimple Saudagar Area of Pune City, Only god Knows or probably Engineers of RCom knows how bad the network coverage of Reliance Mobile is in this area. If you wanted to talk someone sitting inside your house through Reliance India Mobile ,it will be a ninth wonder of this world that your call grts connected. Most of the time due to bad network the phone remains out of network area or if sometimes the phone shows network you have to go outside the house to receive a call or make a call.I am in a state of shock that after giving such poor services to the customers how can Mr. Anil Ambani thinks that more customer will engage to their network and he will reduce the Debt of Rs 33000 Cr and As of august 14 2010 the market share of Rcom Stands at approx. 18%. If such harassment of customer goes on then there will be a day when Mr.Anil Ambani has to sell this business. There is a very famous saying by big marketers when you cannot handle the business get yourself out from it. If this goes on then Customers have to consider their decision to be with RCom. I will be highly thankful to you if you see into the Problem so that no other customer again goes through such a pain.

The telecome service your company is providing to the customer is not worth ,we oftenly get network problem while getting connectivity with R2R . This is one of the worst mobile service providers I have ever seen. I got myself a SIM for which I had to wait for 2 days to get activated. Then every month I get a sms stating that I have subscribed for jokes or callertunes and what not. Lost a hell lot of money due to this. I had raised a complaint each time and there was no reponse clearly indicating that this is being done on purpose.
When I went to the Reliance branch and complained they just shunned me off saying that nothing can be done. I had asked for a refund and no response came. They finally checked their register and told me that I had registered for all the nonsense stuff.
I finally gave up and instead of wasting any time or money on the "Dont ever Use" Nw of reliance threw off the sim and got a new one.... Never go for a Reliance connection be it any hting ... mobile or BB... Reilance are big time cheaters and are concerned only with money and profits and not service...

Reliance communication is a pathetic company. Mr Ambani has expanded his business in such a stupid manner, that he has forgotten the term customer service. People at web world are rude and dsicourteous, people in call center are also the same. The company believes in acquiring new customers, not caring for previous. I am not a competitor of reliance, nor am i a stupid blogger. I am a genuine customer who has been left deeply pained and disturbed by the inconvenience caused to me by reliance.
I wish from the deepest core of my heart that this company must get ruined.

RIL is having the worst service of broad band i hv just got the connection 1 month before and the internet is not working. i logged the complained bt given a number after tht no response from the RIL ppl

Reliance are the biggest cheating network in India.I advice people not to take any service from Reliance.I took a landphone for Rs 2000.After one month my internet bill was high.I used only 6 hours for the whole month, but when the bill came it was very high.I noticed that the pulse for internet will cut every 20 sec or 35 sec...it won't be full 60 sec.I complained this at the Reliance outlet and they tried to supress me saying"There are customers in our office, don't discourage them".After talking I decided to cancel the connection.I returned my handset to them and recieved a receipt "Bill amount adjusted with deposit amount".But now they filed a case against me that I haven't paid the bill.When I produced the receipt they are forcing me to pay the bill.The advocate also forced me.When I said the whole thing, advocate said me to decide whether to pay the bill or not.The Reliance executives were forcing me.I neglected it.
How can people trust Reliance?I think people in India are still in darkness.Even a graduate like me was cheated, then what will be case of others...

I also share the same expeirence from the Reliance people, I have purchased the broad band connection few days back and due to some reasons my broadband wire connection got broken and its almost a month no reply from reliance customer care and local dealer. Misbehaving from their side while lodging complaint is as usual.

Reliance broadnet service is just too pathetic. The connection seldom works. For the last 3 days I do not have any network connection. I have repeatedly called up the call center and all I get is 'it will be done as soon as possible'.

Unnecessary Harassment by RELIANCE BROADBAND regarding issue of Non-objection and clearance certificate (NOC) and settlement of inflated bill account in spite of making payment of all necessary dues.

Brief History: I had subscribed for the 75Kbps Unlimited Plan of RELIANCE BROADBAND in the month of May 2006.It was a post paid plan, for which I used to receive bills of Rs.450 (inclusive of tax) on monthly basis. I was not satisfied with the quality of service and speed as promised, so I applied for disconnection in the month of June’07-July’07. This was my first request for disconnection and the beginning of 7 months long harassment and its still on.
Detail of events: My first request for disconnection was made in the month of June’07-July’07 but without any further correspondence from their side. After sometime I got a call from their Retention Department regarding the reason for disconnection. I gave them a valid reason and asked them to provide me with a final bill and NOC and take back my MODEM. He assured me that action will be taken asap but again in vain. I received a bill for that month but I did not pay as I wanted a final bill with NOC. So again I requested for disconnection in the month of July’07-August’07 but I have misplaced all my TTNo.(Complaint No.) but it hardly makes any difference since all my complaints and requests can be verified from the records of Reliance Broad band’s Customer Database. In August, I got a call from their Billing Department that my balance of Rs.450/- is outstanding. I told them the reason for such delay (since I wanted to make a final payment) but he asked me to call up the Customer Care and sort this out with them. Yet again I did the same thing and got a call back who assured me that within 3 days my connection will be terminated and it did happen and my connection was finally barred on 14th August, 2007 but no one came to claim the MODEM and Wiring. I again requested for final bill. In August end I received a bill of Rs.1650/- for the period June-August whereas my original Amount due was Rs.725/- only (Rs.450/- for June’07-July’07 and Rs.275/- for July-August, 19days). On scrutinizing the bill properly, I found out that in the middle of the month there is a change of plan whereas since May’06, I am using 75Kbps Unlimited Plan and had no intention to change to a limited plan. Again I received a cumulative bill showing that my total outstanding amount now on my account was Rs.2004.15/- for the month of August-September(my connection got barred in the middle of august but I am still receiving bill for the next month). Then I got some 20 calls from their various departments asking me to pay the amount for which I was not liable. Change of plan was due to technical fault of Reliance Broadband as neither any confirmation nor any request was either received or given by me even according to the records of Reliance Broadband.
Note: I have record of detailed bills for the month of June-August to support my argument. Bills are showing everything clearly.

Steps taken from my side: I took all necessary steps for settling the account by personally meeting a member from the Billing Department at Reliance Broad band’s Delhi Branch Office (Barakhamba road, C.P.) and telling him everything in details. He convinced me and asked me to make the payment for which I was actually liable. As a result I made a final payment of Rs.725/- as agreed upon with Receipt No.-S079716692 in cash on account of User ID:393395778696 dated-29/10/2007 and on 31st October, 2007 a person came from reliance to claim the MODEM and gave me the Service Termination Certificate. Details of Final Payment of Rs.725/- are as follows:
1. For the month June’07-July’07- The amount outstanding=Rs.450/-
2. For the month July’07-August’07, The amount outstanding for 19days since I last used internet on 14th August and on that date my connection was barred(proof-detailed bill) =19Days/31Days*400+12.5%tax=Rs.275/-
I thought that it’s the end of this episode.He also told me that I will be receiving a NOC within 3 months of making my final payment and also asked me to mail the details of my case just as a proof. I did everything but without any conclusion since I did not receive any NOC and that person, Mr. Sunil Sah([email protected]) did not respond to any of my mails. I tried to get in contact with him but in vain. Now the best is yet to come-according to the Billing Department of Reliance Broadband, Mumbai head office, no one but only they have the authority to settle the account. So according to them I should have contacted the Customer Care Department or visited to any Reliance Web World Outlets. This is despite the fact that it was one of the Departments from Reliance only who asked me to meet someone from Billing Department at Delhi Branch Office.
It caused me a lot of inconvenience and turbulence to my mental state to solve this mystery. I felt wasting my time and calls on meeting different departments and I even thought of paying the bill and get out of this mess. And as a matter of fact, I came to know that I am not the only victim. There are more than 10 people in my locality who are facing such an inconvenience of inflated bills as well as receiving bills even after disconnection, but they all are helpless like me. The problem starts only when one applies for disconnection before that everything goes fine.

Conclusion: In spite of settling all the actual dues for which I was liable and even after convincing all the officials from various departments who called me up with my facts, after 4months I am still receiving calls but now from their lawyers who are claiming that their client (read Reliance Broadband) have sued me for non payment of dues (Rs.2004-Rs.725=Rs.1280/- the amount which I am not liable to pay).
Words like legal cases and court of law is really frightening especially for those who belong to ordinary middle class family. Same holds true for my father as well, who wants me to make the payment and avoid such complexities and unnecessary harassments. Even he thinks that this is not correct but then at the end of the day its better to pay than get into such trouble.
But I feel that now there are forums where such grievances can be addressed and that is why I am here. Its not about the quantum of money involved but about honesty. Why should anyone pay the amount for which he is not liable and above that how can you sue him for that? One has to raise his voice against arm twisting especially when big and reputed companies like Reliance are involved in such incidents at grass root level. I hope I will get a solution or path to find one soon with your help.

I was not satisfied with the quality of service and speed as promised, so I applied for disconnection in the month of June’07-July’07. This was my first request for disconnection and the beginning of 7 months long harassment and its still on.
Detail of events: My first request for disconnection was made in the month of June’07-July’07 but without any further correspondence from their side. After sometime I got a call from their Retention Department regarding the reason for disconnection. I gave them a valid reason and asked them to provide me with a final bill and NOC and take back my MODEM. He assured me that action will be taken asap but again in vain. I received a bill for that month but I did not pay as I wanted a final bill with NOC. So again I requested for disconnection in the month of July’07-August’07 but I have misplaced all my TTNo.(Complaint No.) but it hardly makes any difference since all my complaints and requests can be verified from the records of Reliance Broad band’s Customer Database. In August, I got a call from their Billing Department that my balance of Rs.450/- is outstanding. I told them the reason for such delay (since I wanted to make a final payment) but he asked me to call up the Customer Care and sort this out with them. Yet again I did the same thing and got a call back who assured me that within 3 days my connection will be terminated and it did happen and my connection was finally barred on 14th August, 2007 but no one came to claim the MODEM and Wiring. I again requested for final bill. In August end I received a bill of Rs.1650/- for the period June-August whereas my original Amount due was Rs.725/- only (Rs.450/- for June’07-July’07 and Rs.275/- for July-August, 19days). On scrutinizing the bill properly, I found out that in the middle of the month there is a change of plan whereas since May’06, I am using 75Kbps Unlimited Plan and had no intention to change to a limited plan. Again I received a cumulative bill showing that my total outstanding amount now on my account was Rs.2004.15/- for the month of August-September(my connection got barred in the middle of august but I am still receiving bill for the next month). Then I got some 20 calls from their various departments asking me to pay the amount for which I was not liable. Change of plan was due to technical fault of Reliance Broadband as neither any confirmation nor any request was either received or given by me even according to the records of Reliance Broadband.
Note: I have record of detailed bills for the month of June-August to support my argument. Bills are showing everything clearly.

Steps taken from my side: I took all necessary steps for settling the account by personally meeting a member from the Billing Department at Reliance Broad band’s Delhi Branch Office (Barakhamba road, C.P.) and telling him everything in details. He convinced me and asked me to make the payment for which I was actually liable. As a result I made a final payment of Rs.725/- as agreed upon with Receipt No.-S079716692 in cash on account of User ID:393395778696 dated-29/10/2007 and on 31st October, 2007 a person came from reliance to claim the MODEM and gave me the Service Termination Certificate. Details of Final Payment of Rs.725/- are as follows:
1. For the month June’07-July’07- The amount outstanding=Rs.450/-
2. For the month July’07-August’07, The amount outstanding for 19days since I last used internet on 14th August and on that date my connection was barred(proof-detailed bill) =19Days/31Days*400+12.5%tax=Rs.275/-
I thought that it’s the end of this episode.He also told me that I will be receiving a NOC within 3 months of making my final payment and also asked me to mail the details of my case just as a proof. I did everything but without any conclusion since I did not receive any NOC and that person, Mr. Sunil Sah([email protected]) did not respond to any of my mails. I tried to get in contact with him but in vain. Now the best is yet to come-according to the Billing Department of Reliance Broadband, Mumbai head office, no one but only they have the authority to settle the account. So according to them I should have contacted the Customer Care Department or visited to any Reliance Web World Outlets. This is despite the fact that it was one of the Departments from Reliance only who asked me to meet someone from Billing Department at Delhi Branch Office.
It caused me a lot of inconvenience and turbulence to my mental state to solve this mystery. I felt wasting my time and calls on meeting different departments and I even thought of paying the bill and get out of this mess. And as a matter of fact, I came to know that I am not the only victim. There are more than 10 people in my locality who are facing such an inconvenience of inflated bills as well as receiving bills even after disconnection, but they all are helpless like me. The problem starts only when one applies for disconnection before that everything goes fine.

Conclusion: In spite of settling all the actual dues for which I was liable and even after convincing all the officials from various departments who called me up with my facts, after 4months I am still receiving calls but now from their lawyers who are claiming that their client (read Reliance Broadband) have sued me for non payment of dues (Rs.2004-Rs.725=Rs.1280/- the amount which I am not liable to pay).
Words like legal cases and court of law is really frightening especially for those who belong to ordinary middle class family. Same holds true for my father as well, who wants me to make the payment and avoid such complexities and unnecessary harassments. Even he thinks that this is not correct but then at the end of the day its better to pay than get into such trouble.
But I feel that now there are forums where such grievances can be addressed and that is why I am here. Its not about the quantum of money involved but about honesty. Why should anyone pay the amount for which he is not liable and above that how can you sue him for that? One has to raise his voice against arm twisting especially when big and reputed companies like Reliance are involved in such incidents at grass root level. I hope I will get a solution or path to find one soon with your help.

But I am getting the reminder calls for payment, it is very funny, without receiving the bills, how reliance people expecting a payment. Last month, I received reply when I visited reliance office, the address will changes in next month bill and I cleared all the dues as of now. it is showing classy example of bas services given to the consumers.

I was using tataindicom broadband, and planned to switch to reliance wireless for a better service. today its 20th day of me waiting for connection to get install.

I have submitted all documents, given the money needed to install the connection, but still waiting for engineers to find some time to install the connection.

today morning i mail this to Mr. Gaurav Wahi (Vice President Reliance Communications) also.

ppl from all the depts who interacts with customer taken every thing for granted. they don't know how to talk to customer, and how to deal with them. they do every thing except solving the customers problem.

according to policy of rel wireless it takes max 10 days time to install a new connection, already 20 days gone and no sign of connection. if tomorrow i miss the due date of bill submission, i'll be libel to pay some late fee for not doing it on time. I feel same should be apply to this situation. some kind of penalty should be imposed on the involved ppls.

And as we have seen some big companies suddenly going bonk and falling quite low , the same will perhaps happen to Reliance , be it Reliance Phone , petrol , or the newest bogus "Reliance money ".

OK, let me waste my time as well as I am annoyed with reliance landline; (I'm using reliance mobile since 2 years and have no problems with reliance mobile till date)

I had applied for and got connected to reliance in Jan 07; I signed for PLAN 231 where in within Gujarat state calls on landline and reliance mobile is free and other calls as per tariff. However since then till date I'm receiving Invoice with PLAN299 which include all free calls as charged calls. I had complained in Feb 07 by calling customer care and it was confirmed by them on 27th Feb 07 that plan has been changed to PLAN231; but still billing is done based on PLAN299.

I guess there is no linkage between customer care with billing department which is very annoying; because my phone gets disconnected every 8-10 days and after numerous calls to reliance office it get started temporarily (as on today; phone is lying dead)

I was surprised when My Name change request was taken up SOOO seriously, i got several calls for confirmation before and after name change; person came to collect proof; and so on...
