This is one of the most progressive legislations in recent times. Imagine a telephone number that stays with you till the time you want.
I had to change the telecom circle recently and trust me, the kind of confusion that has prevailed is mind boggling. It’s asinine to deal with utter morons on one hand and still try and make sense of the umpteen plans and options. There is no one solution that fits but it’s much more rewarding if you stick on to your cellular provider with same plan rather than shift to a new plan with another one albeit with same number.
Media reports are emphatic that the new MNP would be rolled out nationwide. It was the collective of private operators who had been holding up the nationwide release. Despite various “deadlines”, the newer ones have been pushed to Oct 31st this year.
It’s urgently needed because it would now shift the onus of service delivery to operators. Which means that they have to deliver. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case all over.
Can anyone claim that he/she is “very happy” or “satisfied” with the telephone operator? At best, you have to face the Customer Care Firewall; there is no one in the higher echelons to sort out the matter. Pre sales is the most important component; I feel that after sales would automatically vouch in for your pre sales component if you keep the existing customers “happy”. A satisfied customer can pull in more but this basic fact is lost on the legions of morons who are only flogging the networks for “targets”. It is important, yes for it’s survival but a simple plan can do much more. I don’t mind paying a premium rate for a service but I need to get my money’s worth.
Although it is not related here, I can relate the experience with a private email service that I have subscribed to. I use Fastmail with top of the billings; it gives me 10 Gigs of space, excellent customer care, a product that works and a small customer base. Which means that I get a service with nearly 100% of uptime and much better than existing free offering like Gmail where getting a customer care response is impossible. I am willing to stick on to this email service provider; pay a nominal yearly fees and enjoy with peace of mind. I need something similar for my telecom service provider as well.
Here is hoping for the best!!
