It’s been a roller coaster. I have been surfing surfing around- as if all my pent up feelings swelled up and came out all of a sudden.
My interests basically centre towards Music and hence I was very keen on having some kind of a player to have streaming radio on my desktop. It’s awesome music out there; something that I wouldn’t have ever known otherwise.
That this existed, I was aware of the same. However, thanks to BSNL, it was sorely limited which made the situtation worse. Boo these idiots for all the troubles that I have had to face. However, all forgotten and forgiven.
Since I had made efforts along with others who mailed repeatedly to BSNL top “honchos” ( a term favoured by the assholish financial dailies which abound with stupidity), I would move the community all over to define the Broadband definition from current 256k to 512k at least. Remember guys, we are all stake holders in this. The whole BSNL/ MTNL has been built up from public funds and they have no right to keep it as their private property.
TRAI would have to be moved for their “consideration”. However, in this long struggle, I have come across various truths. Media is blase, apathetic and focussed on what the “stars” did for their dinner. Financial Dailies are a bit notch up, but they cater to the jet set who wouldn’t otherwise bother. The TV channels have their own hassles.
Hence, we have to band together and do something together. Soon.
Before I end, I wasn’t aware of Opera’s awesome Panels where in you could add a link. I use Real Player (if you are using Ubuntu- download Automatix and this awesome script would do everything for you); its a matter of posting the link in Real Player. I do have some stations added, but the content is huge and vast. ( My favourite heavy metal station is Chronix Radio It comes as a 128k stream which makes it a pleasure to hear it out).
Opera Widgets has another awesome “Pandora” which is based on “music genome project”. I have reasons to be circumspect about the terminology, yet it does a decent enough job of tracking your interests in music. You could add this in the panel; however on several occasions, the server is exceeded beyond it’s capacity or I am unable to reach it.
Enjoy! I’d get back soon about other amazing content online. Who needs TV?
