2G scam India: How it impacts national security

This is a rather detailed and longish post on Rajeev’s blog. I can only agree to the systematic loot.

Ignore Pranajoy Guha Thakurta’s tripe about “not being much a party to the 2G . He is some sort of a and for all practical purposes a permanent fixture on . He is not expected to “rise up to the situation” :)

#barkhagate seems to be become a popular trending topic on . It can mean only one thing. Lots of anonymous love to hate Barkha Dutt. At best, they can only vent their “anger” online. When it comes to standing up for the rights or out in voting, they would all scatter away.

For all practical purposes, Greatbong has a good write up on this loot. And all the more I agree with what he writes:

And so my friends it will continue, one wave of followed by yet another larger wave, raising the shock threshold every time. Fire up your rage within 140 characters. Try make it and pray for re-tweets. Cause, honestly, that’s really all you can do.

Which by and large explains the current state of Indian populace. It does not matter whether it trends on Twitter or gets a mention in the . Most of have become so callous with such oddities, that public memory is really short. Another day, another year, another scam and this too shall pass.

Which means that in this current fiasco, it would not be instructive to preach or lecture on the pathetic reach of . This has also laid bare ’s role as an ineffectual regulator. Easy isn’t it? Staff it with pathetic run of the mill , feed them with public money and let them occasionally bark (for regulations). The real power stays in and the whims and fancies of chosen few while they swindle the public money. The companies make hay while the sun shines and you as idiotic customers pay (or rather) subsidize for their “expenditure”. With media in the pocket , nothing gets mentioned or ‘intelligent submissions’ are ignored.

While we re-elect the same bastards back in power. Why the fuck don’t you even feel outraged at all this? Damnit.

Broadband and Microblogging

I came across these two hilarious videos and produce here for your eyes only.

I am becoming a myself. Although, I must confess that this novelty does wear off after some time. This is a perfect marriage of with the with device updates on your cell phone. I have accumulated over 300 ’s over the past 3 days. There are a variety of people posting in over a million thoughts in a day which makes this a very powerful medium indeed. It makes sense to send a group over the period of time to the people you wish to stay in touch with.

Another beauty of You Tube is that one never knows what they might stumble upon. This enriches the novelty of the medium and makes it very interesting. It is perfectly geared to the demands of the new Gen X which has short attention spans and I love the short and sweet clips. It is a powerful dissemination medium as well. I am not sure about the numerous You Tube clones; there are a number of Indian websites as well. I am wondering as to where do they find the user base to generate the content from.

If I had time enough, I would be integrating this main blog with the ; although, I indulge in it more to let off my steam than serious professional blogging. This might change in the future as newer technologies emerge and I am willing to get a slice of the same. Internet is truly a great leveller; it provides the unfettered access to the available information. That’s why I have always believed in providing an unlimited access so that people can benefit from these technologies. It is a matter of time though.

Virgin India Mobile: Launches legal

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Why would a company choose it’s name as “”; I have no clue. The unholy alliance between and Virgin came through and got a sanction from . They are legally bound to stay together; unless Virgin decides to act and kick below the belt, literally.

I am opposed to the deal because it means that the telecom companies are entering the country via “brand tie ups”. What avoids AT&T or for that matter any other company buying undisclosed stock and shares and entering in the country in the name of brand building?

I have never liked the limeys and been always fearful of their intentions. This is reverse colonisation in the garb of . Instead of hailing this as the next big thing in Telecom industry, Tatas ought to be ashamed to have sold their “assets” for a fistful of pounds.

. Their PR disasters are well known. They have not been able to issue a denial nor actively court the . It wouldn’t be out of place to mention that unless they actively engage the bloggers (who are potential customers), they wouldn’t get their dues. Further, most of the Gen X generation would probably search before they settle in for this service.

A company that cannot clarify it’s intentions before the launch cannot be relied on providing decent after sales service.
